“Let the children come to me,” Jesus insists, after his apostles try to send the children away from Him (Matthew 19). I think that that is exactly what God doesn’t want; He doesn’t want us to stay away from Him because we might be bothersome, or because we want or need something from Him. He wants us to go to Him with everything. This is what prayer is for – talking to and with God. He wants to have a personal relationship with us.
As a result of getting to know God, we sometimes ask Him into our hearts. We want Him to live in us and fill us with the Holy Spirit so He can accomplish His plan for us. He desires this kind of deep, personal relationship with us. As Christians, we get to help non-believers come to know Christ in a personal way so that we can all spend eternity with Him. God loves us so much that He gave us all a second chance, and I think that is what He would really want for Christmas – for us to use that opportunity wisely.
So, what would God ask for for Christmas? I asked my younger brother this question, and he said, “That’s easy, nothing!” I told him that I didn’t think the same thing and he looked at me like I was crazy. It would make sense for him to think that, though, because God is all-powerful, and can do whatever He wants. But I think God wants us for Christmas! He wants us to believe in Him and love Him and to be with Him our whole lives. And in His love for us, He wants to have this be our own decision, though. He’s not going to decide for us.

I’m so proud of you! You’re a terrific writer! Thanks for reminding me that God wants us to come to Him with everything, and that we’re never “bothersome” to Him. I sometimes feel like I’m coming to Him with the same things, but He really does want His children to come to Him – and I’m His child!

Wow! Never loose that which you wrote about. He DOES want us to bother (I love that word!) him. Although, to him, it is not a bother (I got to say it again). He tells us to keep asking. Prayer is my FAVORITE thing to do…you know me, I love to talk. I know I can come before the Almighty God any time, any place. Keep talking to God Hanna and BE STILL and know that He is God! It’s taken me a really long time to get the “be still” part! God is the God of second chances, phew! You are way ahead of where I was at in 7th grade! I needed a strong christian friend like you.
