I've done this with my kids for the last several years and we pick a night between Thanksgiving and Christmas to take them around to our neighbors. It is a great interaction with the kids. By handling the red and white beads, they get to talk about what Christ has done with us, that the cane is like a shepherd's staff, and "J" for Jesus, and then they get to share that story with our neighbors. Since we have spent less, we're done shopping for this year! (And they're wrapped!) Now we get to concentrate on celebrating with our family.
